Old Medieval Ingredients for this Medieval Recipe - Rogue Anfelfood Cake
- 1 Dozen
Egg Whites
- 1 ½
Cups of Powdered Sugar
- 1 Cup of
White Flour
- 1 Rounded
Tablespoon of Cream of Tartar
- 1 Teaspoon
REAL Vanilla Extract
- 1 Teaspoon
of Orange Flavoring
- 1 Tablespoon
of Grated Orange Peel

Egg whites wilt whip best
if brought to room temperature. Next, beat with cream of tartar, vanilla
& orange flavoring till soft peaks form. Gradually incorporate sugar
& continue beating till peaks are stiff.
Gently fold in flour mixture,
a little at a time. Add orange peel. Bake on lowest oven rack in
a preheated 350 degree oven for about 45 minutes, or till top springs when touched.
Loosen sides of cake from pan, then invert immediately onto serving plate,
but doeth not remove cake. Leave in pan to cool. Sift on additional
powdered sugar.
