Medieval Food - Medieval Recipes - Medieval Diet - The Medieval Peasant's Porch

 

Medieval Barbarian Chicken ©

Serves 5 generously for about 175 calories each

Ye Old Medieval Food Ingredients

1 Small Tin of Biscuits – or 5 Biscuits, Raw
No Calorie Refrigerated Butter Spray
1 Cup of Boned Chicken, Cubed or Shredded
2 Cups of Fat-free Chicken Broth
1 Carrot Sliced Paper Thin
1 Tiny White Onion, Chopped
¼ Cup of Frozen Peas
1 Tablespoon Cornstarch + ¼ Cup Water
Salt & Cracked Black Pepper to Thy Personal Taste
Paprika (Optional) 
 

Separate biscuits to double 5 to 10 pieces.  Spray both sides with butter spray.  Fit 5 pieces into a muffin pan & pop into a preheated 450 degree oven for about 5 minutes – or till golden brown.  

Bake remaining pieces on flat surface in oven.

In a non-stick saucepan on stovetop, heat chicken broth till bubbling.  Add carrot, onion & peas. Cook about 10 minutes, or till veggies art tender-crisp.

Combine cornstarch with water in tiny bowl till dissolved.  Add to bubbly broth.  Stir & watch with the eye of a falcon till thickened.

Add salt & pepper.  Stir & remove from heat.  

Add chicken chunks & stir some more.  Pour into baked biscuit shells & sprinkle with paprika, if desired. Top with flat biscuit.

If desired, thy may’st make thy filling & fill uncooked dough with filling.  Top with uncooked biscuit top & bake till done.

Either cooking method wilt work, tho thy wilt be less apt to burn the top of thy pie by opting for the pre-cookery method.
